Crunchy, addictive chickpeas roasted with chaat masala, served with a thick, spiced Greek yogurt dipping sauce. A high-protein snack that replaces chips without compromise.
I have a chip problem. Or rather, I had a chip problem. I could demolish a bag of chips while watching a game and not even notice. The problem is that chips are basically zero protein and all carbs and fat.
Roasted chickpeas fixed that. Same satisfying crunch, but with actual nutritional value. The chaat masala coating gives them that tangy, savory hit that makes them dangerously snackable. The yogurt dip isn't optional, it's built into the recipe because it adds protein and gives you something creamy to contrast the crunch.
The key is patience. You need to roast them long enough for the centers to dry out, or they'll be crunchy on the outside but soft inside. They should rattle when you shake the pan. I keep a container of these on my desk at all times.
A typical snack portion of roasted chickpeas gives you about 6-8g of protein, better than chips but still modest. We increased the chickpea quantity to 3 cans for more generous portions and built a thick Greek yogurt dipping sauce right into the recipe (it's not optional). The yogurt dip alone adds 5g per serving. From 6-8g to 18g, more than double the protein, making this a snack that actually contributes to your daily goals.
